Alpha Video Completes Health Simulation Facility for Kirkwood Community College

Iowa college receives audiovisual components to record, archive, and distribute media in newly constructed health simulation facility

 

Minneapolis, MN, May 13, 2009–Alpha Video & Audio, Inc., a leading professional video systems integrator, is excited to announce the completion of a newly constructed health simulation facility at Kirkwood Community College.  Kirkwood, well known as one of the leading two-year colleges in America, constructed the facility for its nursing program, which includes six training labs and a general classroom.

 

The objective of the integration was to provide Kirkwood with the ability to record, archive, and distribute media of the medial procedures that take place in each of the individual training labs.  In the labs, students work on state-of-the-art Meti simulation dummies to learn proper medical techniques.  The recordings of these training sessions are then distributed to a larger classroom for teacher instruction.  Each lab also has its own EMS station, where students and teachers can review the procedures that have been recorded, as well as make DVD's of their performances to bring back and review at a later date.

 

In order to achieve this, Alpha Video worked with the college to provide 22 Panasonic Super Dynamic II Dome cameras that are spread throughout the six labs, as well as in the patient loading/unloading zone.  The larger classroom was integrated so that all of the video from the individual labs is routed and can be displayed as a teaching tool.  Audio reinforcement was also installed throughout the facility, with clip and overhead microphones, as well as a host of displays. System control was integrated by installing separate head-end control rooms for each lab, and a master control room for the entire facility, which allows for seamless execution of all of the audiovisual functions in each room.  Finally, all of the technology installed by Alpha Video was integrated into the Meti simulation dummies.
